Radical Root Organic Farm gives tours of their working organic farm. Learn aspects of organic agriculture and organic growing. Bridge your connection to food by seeing how your food is grown! During every tour, we talk about ecological issues related to farming, including permaculture, organic growing, the holistic care of bees, pasturing animals in an animal rotation system for optimal soil, plant and farm health, and more. Walk around the farm and see our growing vegetables, plants and chickens and our movable chicken coop. We will discuss the various vegetables being grown, the varieties, the heirlooms, and wild plants in the field that are beneficial to insects, and the wildlife around the farm. We will discuss the importance of protecting this wildlife, and farming in an ecologically sensitive way in order to do this. Lastly, we will talk about how it is not just enough to farm in a way that does not harm the environment, but to farm in a way that actually benefits it and contributes to it. All tours are able to be followed by questions and answers.
Tours last 1 hour, with optional 1/2 hour for Q + As. $7/person. $5/senior or student discounts. Minimum 10 people.
