Welcome to our farm!
Radical Root Farm is a certified organic, holistic 10-acre farm nestled among forest preserve and prairie in Libertyville, IL. Our mission is to grow nutrient-dense food for the community, while educating people about healthy living, ecological growing, and permaculture. We grow and raise organic vegetables and fruits, eggs from pasture-raised chickens, medicinal herbs and milking goats.
UPDATE ON THE FARM: As most of you know by now, we made the painful decision to not sign the last lease that was offered to us for the farm. We felt the lease put our family and farm business in an unsustainable situation, and was not a good and safe situation for a farmer. We therefore sadly declined continuing farming at the property. Our hope was we would find another property sooner than later to continue our farm business at, but it seems at this time it isn’t possible to do that. Since we had invested all of our money (both savings and loans) into a property that was not ours, we currently do not have enough to start again somewhere else this spring of 2020. We therefore are putting our farm on “hold” for the 2020 season. Soon, we hope to find our true forever farm, a more permanent spot, a place we can truly call our stable and secure home/situation, where we know we can stay and build upon long-term!
